Proofreading and Editing
I usually quote for writing jobs on a per-project basis. That way I can give you a firm figure upfront and you know exactly what you will be paying at the end.
My quote will depend on the size and complexity of the job (Will I need to do research before commencing? Will you provide me with all the facts and figures or will I need to compile them? Will I need to interview anyone? Will I have to design graphs and tables, or put together a bibliography?) and the deadline.
Sometimes, if the job is relatively small and straightforward (a media release, letter or simple funding application), I may suggest charging by the hour if I think it will be more cost-effective for you. I write quickly and accurately and will keep you updated on my progress.
Writing Advice service
As this service is usually offered in conjunction with editing and proofreading, the fee will be incorporated into the overall rate. I will discuss this with you at the start of the job, after I have seen a sample of your work.
Remember: I offer special rates to students and not-for-profit organisations.
I charge on a per-hour, per-word or per-project basis. My rates are very competitive, and I offer discounted rates to students and not-for-profit organisations.
Before providing an estimate, I will ask to see a sample of your work so that I can offer you the most competitive rate. The estimate I give you will depend on the size of the job, its complexity, what level you would like me to work at (proofreading, copy editing or substantive editing, or even somewhere in between; I'm very flexible) and the deadline.
Please note: an estimate is just that - an estimate. I will keep you fully informed every step of the way so there are no big surprises when you receive your invoice.
